PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking to contract with a Emergency Physician for a client located in Shiprock, NM 87420

The Emergency Physician services are designed to support the mission of the Indian Health Services (IHS) by raising the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of the American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level.

IHS is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for the Indian people and to ensure that comprehensive, culturally appropriate personal and public health services are available and accessible to the American Indian and Alaska Native people; to promote excellence and quality through innovation into an optimally performing organization; and to strengthen program management and operations. IHS currently provides a comprehensive health service delivery system to approximately 2.6 million American Indians and Alaska Natives who belong to 574 federally recognized tribes in 37 states.


  • Shiprock, NM

40 Hours per week or 5 days out of the normal work week. The facility is open Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. with the weekends off. Ability to provide after-hours services if needed.


  • Make preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized care of patient referral as required. Evaluates patients who come to the emergency department.
  • Provide patient care as needed and obtain consultants as needed. Patients are often critical requiring higher level of care than available. Provides primary medical care to patients with wide spectrum of illnesses in the emergency department.
  • Provide Emergency care on a regular and ongoing basis to patients see in the ER. Including; stabilization and transfer of major trauma (penetrating wounds, hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, significant blunt trauma, etc). Competent in management, stabilization and transfer of pediatric trauma, pediatric advanced life support, adult cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, psychiatric emergencies such as suicide, and complex/critical medical conditions (Septic shock, cardiopulmonary shock, liver failure, end stage renal disease etc.)
  • Serve as first responder for "codes", that is, ACLS/PALS administration for patients found in life threatening situations for which the "code blue" activation system has been initiated on the campus, including outpatient departments.
  • Make appropriate referrals and obtain appropriate consultations after primary completed evaluation and documentation has been completed.
  • Shall recognize and give initial treatment of acute psychiatric problems.
  • Provide appropriate documentation on rendered patient care utilizing the EHR system.

    Position Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Training/Experience: The physician shall have completed an ACGME approved Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program; working in high-acuity ER departments.
    • Certification/License/Registration: Board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Shall maintain appropriate licensure, a valid/current and unrestricted license to practice ER medicine in any state within the United States, District of Columbia or the Common-Wealth of Puerto Rico.
    • Maintain CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS Certifications unless they are board certified in Emergency Medicine.
    • DEA license
